About Me

Roy F. Thompson, M.A., C.Psych

Psychologist/Private Practice

Welcome

Life can be overwhelming at times, and reaching out for support is a meaningful step toward change. My role as a psychologist is to provide a safe, respectful, and evidence‑informed space where you can explore challenges, build resilience, and move toward a healthier and more fulfilling life. I’ve been supporting individuals, families, and organizations across Northern Ontario since 1999, and I remain deeply committed to helping people navigate both everyday stressors and the most difficult moments in life.

Credentials and Professional Background

I have been licensed for independent practice in psychology since 2005 and have provided mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families for more than two decades. My work spans assessment and treatment of various mental health disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders —> (see Services Offered). I have worked closely with community organizations including indigenous service providers. I continue to be actively involved in advancing evidence‑informed practice within the community.

In addition to my private practice, I work at Algoma Family Services a mental health agency located in Sault Ste. Marie providing psychological consultation and assessments throughout the Algoma District and contributing to program evaluation, treatment‑outcome analysis, and the review of emerging technology in mental health care. I also provide clinical supervision to qualifying psychological associates and psychologists, supporting the next generation of mental health professionals.
